The glucose is formulated at an optimum level to facilitate the absorption of sodium and water in the small intestine and therefore assists fast rehydration. BIOLyte products do not contain any added sugars other than glucose. Some BIOLyte flavours contain tiny amount of sucrose (<0.01%) which come from the natural flavours and colours.
BIOLyte contains no genetically modified ingredients.
BIOLyte contains no traces of nuts.
BIOLyte is scientifically formulated with a delicate balance of glucose and sodium to achieve optimum electrolyte absorption and fast rehydration. Adding fluid other than water (such as juice, milk, lemonade) may upset the chemical balance and compromise the medicine’s efficacy.
BIOLyte has no added fructose.
BIOLyte is sweetened using a natural sweetener extracted from plant leaf (Stevia). There are no sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners such as erythritol, mannitol, sucralose. isomalt, sodium saccharin or aspartame.

Potassium is a mineral and electrolyte. It is crucial for your entire body to work normally. It helps heart, nerves and muscles function properly, as well as moving nutrients and waste around cells. Most people get all the potassium they need from their food and drink, but having low or high potassium levels can potentially cause serious problems. Regular Heart Salt and Chicken Flavoured Heart Salt are NOT potassium supplement and therefore to be consumed with your regular food ONLY. It is formulated in accordance to Food Standards Australia New Zealand. Generally, in health individuals, most of the ingested potassium (80-90%) is excreted in urine, the rest being excreted in faeces and sweat (Holbrook et al 1984, Pietinen 1982). Potassium filtered in the glomeruli of the kidney is mostly reabsorbed. The potassium in urine results from secretion into the cortical collecting duct under control of the hormone, aldosterone. High plasma levels of potassium stimulate release of aldosterone to increase the secretion of potassium. (Holbrook JT, Patterson KY, Bodner JE, Douglas LW, Veillon C, Kelsay JL, Mertz W, Smith JC. Sodium and potassium intake and balance in adults consuming self-selected diets. Am J Clin Nutr 1984;40:786-93.) Too much potassium in people with acute kidney failure or chronic kidney disease (hyperkalaemia) is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. Please consult your doctors.
Heart Salt (Regular and Chicken Flavoured) does not contain MSG
Type 2 Protein Sweetener is composed of naturally occurring plant extracts stevia leaves sweet and bitter after taste and thaumatin leaves sharp sweetness with lingering sweetness. By combining both sweeteners, the is much closer to sugar. The intensity of sweetness of stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar whereas, thaumatin is about 3000 times sweeter than sugar. A small amount of thaumatin delivers the intensity of sugar when combined with stevia delivers the right sweetness type for various applications. Stevia is a carbohydrate and thaumatin is a protein. The sweetness in Type 2 is largely derived from thaumatin and therefore it is referred to as protein sweetener.
Type 2 sweetener is a non-nutritive sweetener. Nutritive and non-nutritive sweeteners enhance the flavor and/or texture of food. Nutritive sweeteners provide the body with calories, while non-nutritive sweeteners are very low in calories or contain no calories at all. They can both be added to food and beverages.
Type 2 sweeteners are non-nutritive sweeteners. Non-nutritive sweeteners are very low in calories. A single serve of Type 2 Sweeteners (Sachet 2.5g, Tablet 0.06g) is equivalent to 5g of sugar. The energy content of 5g sugar is equivalent to 85 kJ and Type2 Sweetener sachet is less than 20 kJ and the tablet is 0 kJ

Generally, most non-nutritive sweeteners in the market contains sugar alcohols. The sugar alcohols commonly found in foods are erythritol, glycerol, isomalt, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol, Xylitol and hydrogenated starch hydrolysates. These sugar substitutes provide somewhat fewer calories than table sugar (sucrose), mainly because they are not well absorbed and have laxative effect. All foods containing these sugar alternatives must carry a mandatory laxative warning on labels.
Yes, Type 2 Protein Sweeteners are Gluten free and suitable for Coeliac
Water-soluble dietary fiber appears to have a greater potential to reduce postprandial blood glucose, insulin, and serum lipid levels than insoluble fiber. (A Tabatabai, S Li. Dietary fiber and type 2 diabetes Clinical excellence for nurse practitioners. 2000, 4:272-276.)
The stevia in TYPE 2 Protein Sweetener does not contain Erythritol. Check other branded products labeled "stevia" as often they have sugar alchohols like erythritol added.
